Enroll Virginia to Host Virtual Town Hall, Press Conference to Discuss the ACA Marketplace Reopening

Leaders from the state and federal levels will share their thoughts on why this new health insurance enrollment opportunity is coming at a critical time for Virginians

Richmond, Va.—Enroll Virginia, a statewide health insurance navigator program, along with state and federal leaders, will host a virtual town hall and press conference Tuesday, February 16 from 10:30 a.m.-11:15 a.m. to offer remarks on the Affordable Care Act Marketplace reopening and what it means for all Virginians.

The event will focus on how this newly announced Open Enrollment period can benefit Virginians who are currently without health coverage during a global pandemic. Since the onset of the pandemic, more than 90,000 Virginians have lost health coverage due to job losses. Prior to the onset of the pandemic, more than 650,000 Virginians were without health coverage.

The speakers for the event are: Virginia Secretary of Health and Human Resources, Daniel Carey, M.D.; Director of the Virginia Health Benefit Exchange, Victoria Savoy; Enroll Virginia Program Manager, Deepak Madala; and Vice President for the National Partnership for Women & Families, Sinsi Hernández-Cancio.

All media receiving this release are encouraged to attend the event by registering ahead of time. A Q&A will follow the brief presentations. Under an executive order from President Biden last month, the federal Marketplace is reopening on February 15 to May 15 for a new Open Enrollment period, giving uninsured Americans a second chance to enroll in affordable health coverage through the ACA.
