SPECIAL
INITIATIVES
VPLC has several initiatives to help better serve communities around Virginia.
Affordable Clean Energy Project (ACE Project) is a program of VPLC that works to insert and amplify the voice of lower income Virginians into the decisions being made around energy costs, and cost-savings and energy efficiency initiatives. Low income households pay in some cases three times as much for energy as a proportion of their income as higher income households. This project aims to enhance the thought and actions to reduce that disparity and help lower income rate-payers to get the most affordable and cleanest energy possible in a collaborative way.
Enroll Virginia is a network of community-based organizations committed to helping Virginians access high quality, affordable health coverage. Our navigators and enrollment experts are trained and certified to provide free, unbiased assistance on health insurance options available through HealthCare.gov, Medicaid, and FAMIS.
Tenants in Virginia have legal rights. Visit VPLC’s Housing Advocacy site for a guide to maintaining stable housing.
LA VIDA (Legal Assistance to Victim-Immigrants of Domestic Abuse) is a free immigration program available to low-income domestic or sexual violence victims who are undocumented immigrants or whose temporary visas are about to expire. LA VIDA helps eligible clients attain Lawful Permanent Resident (LPR or “green card”) status.

The Virginia Partnership to Encourage Responsible Lending (VaPERL) website contains a wealth of information on predatory lending, news, fact sheets and stories from victims of payday and car title loans.
