Getting Ready for Changes to the SNAP and TANF Work Requirements
Tuesday, June 13th, 2023
VPLC hosted a webinar on Tuesday, June 27 to review important changes to work requirements that are coming to both the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) in Virginia. These changes are due to the recent federal debt ceiling agreement and the end of policies that were put in place at the start of the COVID-19 public health emergency. Staff Attorney and Virginia Hunger Solutions Director Cassie Edner reviewed these changes and discussed the risk of approximately 19,000 older adult Virginians losing critical food assistance because of an expansion of the SNAP work-reporting requirement.
We will continue to update this page with information and resources related to the webinar. Check back soon for webinar slides, related articles, advocacy action items, and more.
